Hello, this is pastor gary from first baptist church of laplata. The IRS is no one’s favorite government agency, and the IRS is now ensuring that criminals don’t like them, either. From the IRS website, bribes received, property stolen, and illegal drugs sold must be reported as income on one’s taxes. Where do you include these income sources? On “Schedule 1 line 8z or Schedule C if from your self-employment activity.” I suppose this is theoretically true; however, if someone is immoral enough to deal drugs or steal something, he probably isn’t interested or willing to report it in order to pay taxes on it. Likewise, if someone takes a bribe, he probably doesn’t want anyone else to know about it—especially one of the most invasive and powerful government agencies on the planet. Even so, I suppose the IRS is hoping there are still a few honest, patriotic criminals out there who just want to do the right thing. In Romans 13:7, the Bible instructs us to pay our taxes—even when we disagree with how they will be used. I especially don’t like my taxes being used to murder babies through taxpayer-funded abortions; that’s why I work so diligently to pay the least amount of taxes possible and only vote for pro-life politicians. As far as the above-mentioned criminals are concerned, before they focus on reporting their income, they need to repent of their sin!
