Hello, this is pastor gary from first baptist church of laplata. Did you hear about the unexpected delivery a man received on his porch right here in Charles County? The package’s arrival activated the man’s doorbell camera. When the man checked, he saw a bald eagle sitting on his porch rocking chair! When the man came home, he found the eagle nearby in his front yard unable to fly more than a few feet at a time. Wildlife officers came to rescue the broken bird. Bald eagles are majestic in flight and impressive to see in person; however, whenever I see one up close, it always looks like it is angry with me and suspicious of me. The bald eagle is on the national seal as our national bird, but Benjamin Franklin is said to have preferred the turkey instead; turkeys don’t look angry or suspicious, but they do taste delicious! In actuality, Franklin wanted Moses’ Red Sea crossing from Exodus to be our seal—not any bird. Speaking of Exodus, God compares His delivery of Israel from Egypt to an eagle in chapter 19:4, “You yourselves have seen what I did to Egypt and how I carried you on eagles’ wings and brought you to Myself.” God is a delivering God: always has been, always will be.
